Progressive Dental of Fredericksburg

Invisalign

These are clear plastic trays that you wear for a few weeks at a time and then change to the next tray. They slowly move your teeth into proper alignment to improve chewing function, improve gum health, decrease tooth wear, and improve esthetics. Properly aligned teeth are healthier teeth. Straight teeth are easier to clean and maintain. If you are looking to improve your smile and be more healthy, we can help!

Crowns, Bridges, and Veneers

If you have broken down or missing teeth you have many options to repair or replace them. If you want an esthetic option that is “glued” in, this is what you want. They do not have to be taken out at night, and you can chew with them. Crowns, bridges, and veneers offer functional and esthetic results that are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. We now have digital scanning so those messy impressions are a thing of the past!!

Dentures

We always make every effort to save your natural teeth. However, extractions may be necessary when teeth are unsalvageable or when you have advanced bone loss. Dentures provide a removable option to replace missing teeth. Dentures can also be anchored to implants or any remaining healthy teeth to increase their comfort and function.

Extractions

Our first priority is always to preserve your natural teeth. However, extractions are sometimes necessary when decay has made the tooth unsalvageable or have advanced bone loss. Before we extract teeth, we always discuss with our patients options for tooth replacement once the tooth is missing. These options include dental implants, bridges, and removable dentures.

Fillings

Fillings are one of the most common forms of dental treatment. A filling replaces decayed or broken tooth structure with tooth colored materials that are extremely esthetic and durable.

Implants

A dental implant mimics the form and function of a natural tooth, which consists of a root and a crown. The crown is the visible part of your tooth, and the root is the part that anchors the crown to your jaw. Dental implants are a very successful restorative option. One of the major benefits of dental implants is that you can clean them like normal teeth, and don’t have to thread floss under a tooth to clean it like you do with a bridge.

Cleaning and Prevention

Dr. Shirk and his team are very strong advocates of prevention. The best way to prevent problems is to have have proper home care and routine cleanings. Our goal is to prevent problems or to catch them while they are still minor and easily fixed. Through proper education, we help our patients maintain a healthy smile.

Night and Snore Guards

Night guards (occlusal guards) can help prevent tooth grinding while you sleep or anytime you feel like you clench/grind your teeth. Snore guards are a mouthpiece you wear at night to help prevent snoring. Snoring is a very serious condition that should not be taken lightly. For a snore guard, you must have completed a sleep study, and have a prescription from a sleep physician for the snore guard. Once you have the prescription, we can handle the rest!

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal disease is extremely common. As we age, we all lose bone. However, with proper oral hygiene, and routine check ups, we can minimize the chances of that bone loss causing problems for our teeth.
